The year of 2010 can become a watershed one for the Russian economy. At trial on Nalchik attack, issue was discussed of extending defendants' custodyToday, the Supreme Court of Kabardino-Balkaria, at the session on the criminal case on the events on October 13, 2005, held under chair of Galina Gorislavskaya, discussed the issue of another three-month extension of defendants' custody term, which expires on June 27.
Olga Chibinyova, head of the group of state accusers, has emphasized that the freedom restriction measure in the form of arrest should be extended for all the defendants, as they are accused of grave and especially grave crimes and "are of special danger to the Russian Federation."
Then, the chair asked the opinion of each of the defendants.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, sons of Shevkhuzhev, killed in special operation, detainedOn June 18, in Dugulubgei village of Kabardino-Balkaria, minor sons were detained of Sultan Shevkhuzhev, 40, a resident of Dugulubgei, who was killed in a special operation on May 28 in Mechnikova Street in Nalchik. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent learnt about it from Sultan's father - Asredin Shevkhuzhev.
According to Asredin, on June 18 at five in the morning 10 person in masks - "some through window, some through door" - rushed into their house. They woke up Muhamed Shevkhuzhev, 16, and took him to the Centre for Fighting Extremism of the MIA of Kabardino-Balkaria. In doing so, they failed to present any public prosecutor's sanction or arrest warrant.

Kabardino-Balkaria President Arsen Kanokov visited with the protestors himself to try and calm them down, and managed to persuade them to unblock the roads (Interfax, June 12).

Violence appears to be ratcheting up in yet another region of the North Caucasus - Kabardino-Balkaria. The republic's capital, Nalchik, was the scene of a large-scale rebel attack in October 2005 in which 35 law enforcement officers, 12 civilians and 92 rebels were killed, but has otherwise been more quiescent than its neighbors in the region - Chechnya, Ingushetia and Dagestan.
Three policemen were wounded on June 2 when unidentified gunmen opened fire on a car in which they were traveling near the settlement of Neitrino in Kabaradino-Balkaria's Elbrussky district. According to Interfax, a source in the republic's Interior Ministry identified the victims as a pair of road patrol service (DPS) inspectors and a platoon commander of the ministry's patrol-sentry service.
