Temporarily acting chairman of the government of Kabardino-Balkaria Alexander Merkulov was appointed, as the government of the republic was sent in resignation.

The press-service of the head of the republic on August, 21st informed that.

Earlier Merkulov held the post of the main federal inspector of the apparatus of the plenipotentiary of the president of Russian Federation in the Southern Federal district on Volgograd region, and before it since November, 2006 till December, 2008 - in the Kabardino-Balkarian republic. Before his work in KBR since June, 11th, 2005 there he had been the chairman of the government of Republic of Northern Ossetia-Alania.

On the eve the KBR president Arsen Kanokov had accepted resignation of the chairman of the government of the republic Andrey Yarin in connection with his promotion to some other work. According to operating Constitution of KBR, the government of the republic was sent in resignation. The vice-chairmen - as well as the ministers it was entrusted to execute their duties up to forming of the new structure of the government of the republic.

Alexander Merkulov was born on September, 6th, 1954 in the city of Ordzhonikidze of Northern Ossetia. Graduated the North-Caucasian college of the mines-metallurgical in 1976 and the Russian academy of Public service at the president of Russian Federation under the program "e State and municipal management /legal support/" in 2001. Labour activities were started in 1976 at the factory "Pobedit".

Having worked eight years at the factory on the post of the senior master and the chief of a factory shop, in 1984 he was recommended for work in the party bodies. In 1990 Merkulov was appointed the head of the Promyshlenniy district department of the district committee of the CPSU, in 1994 - the head of department of Promyshlenniy district administration. In 1995 he was sent to the administration of Vladikavkaz local self-management to the post of the head of department of road construction, city accomplishment and gardening.

In 2000 Merkulov was appointed the prefect of Iristonsky municipal district of Vladikavkaz, since June, 2001 he was the chairman of the committee of housing and communal services of Republic of Northern Ossetia-Alania. In 2004 Alexander Merkulov became the first vice-president of the government of Republic of Northern Ossetia-Alania.

Alexander Merkulov is married, has a son and a daughter.
