A mobile group of Mujahideen traveling in a car opened submachine-gun fire on a puppet police patrol when it tried to stop them in Malgobek, a town in the Russian-occupied Caucasian state of Ingushetia. The invaders reported no casualties on both sides. After the attack, the Mujahideen safely withdrew from the scene.
