6.8.2008

The sport star of Adygeya – the Olympic champion of speed pistol shooting Sergey Alifirenko – will not participate in the Olympiad in Peking because of problems with his vision. That was informed by the Adygeya republican TV.

“Three weeks before the flight to China doctors had found an eye illness” – it was stated in one of the interview of the chief trainer of the Russian shooting team Oleg Lapkin. As he mentioned, the sportsman would be replaced in the team by the Europe shooting champion Leonid Ekimov.

Some time earlier it had been informed that among the five track and field athlete women of Russia, removed from participation in the Olympic Games in Pekin, the sportswoman from Adygeya Daria Pischalnikova appeared to be. The International track and field athletics association accused them of using a doping.

At the world championship of the last year Pischalnikova won the silver medal. The sportswoman threw the disk to the distance of 56,78 meters. That’s why she had been supposed to be the real challenger to one of the Olympic medals.

At the present Olympiad in Peking there should be 5 sportsmen from Adygeya participated. Sergey Alifirenko, the sports shooter – invalid Valeriy Ponomarenko, the Daira’s brother – Bogdan Pischalnikov (disk throwing, too), handballer Yana Uskova.

Besides, from Adygeya capital to Peking the young artists of the children’s dancing ensemble “Maykop Downs” went. For participation in the cultural program of the Olympiad there were chosen 20 children.
