From: Eagle_wng Grand prize of $450,000 set for winners of chess championship
Nalchik/Agency Caucasus – While Nalchik , capital of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria, is scheduled to host an international chess championship for women between August 28 and September 18, the grand prize for winners will total $450,000, according to a statement released from the presidential press secretary.
Arsen Kanokov, President of Kabardino-Balkaria, signed in May a protocol with Kirsan Ilumjinov, Chairman of the World Chess Federation, to set Nalchik as the city to host the international chess championship for women this year. The high council of the World Chess Federation granted official approval to the list of applicants days after it selected parts of Nalchik where the games would be played. RİAN/ÖZ/FT
