"Circassian congress", having demanded to recognize Adygeyan people’s genocide, received reply of plenipotentiary in SFD 10.5.2007
"We have received from the apparatus of the Plenipotentiary of the president of Russian Federation in the Southern federal district a formal reply signed by the deputy chief of the department on internal policies Michael Filippov. We consider this answer as a formal reply", - the vice-president of Adygeya republican social movement “Circassian congress" Zaur Dzeukozhev informed IА REGNUM correspondent on May, 10th. We shall remind, the Adygeya republican social movement "Circassian congress" in November, 2006 had addressed to the president of Russian Federation with request for assistance in relation to recognition of the genocide committed by the Russian state from the end of the XIX to the beginning of XX centuries against Adygs (Circassians) during the Russian-Caucasian war.
"In his letter Filippov informed us that in the legislation of Russian Federation there are no corresponding statutory acts defining the order of solving of the problem, stated in our reference. Under the conclusion of the Southern science centre of the Russian academy of sciences presented by the experts it follows that the events of the Russian-Caucasian war cannot be qualified as the fact of the genocide against Adygs (Circassians) according to "Convention On Prevention and Punishment of Genocide Crimes" adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on December, 9th, 1949", - Dzeukozhev added.
