NAZRAN, July 24 (Itar-Tass) -- One border guard was wounded when a bomb went off on the side of a road when a convoy of troops was passing by in Nazran on Monday.
“The explosive device was planted on the side of the road, not far from the republican hospital in Gairbek-Khadzhi Street. It went off at 18:05 Moscow time, at the time when a convoy of the Nazran border guard unit was moving along the street. According to preliminary information, the explosion carried the force of three kilograms of TNT,” an Ingush Interior Ministry official told Itar-Tass.
The Federal Security Service said, “As a result of the explosion only one serviceman received a perforating wound in the forearm. No one else was wounded.” The blast also smashed windows in the bus in which the servicemen were riding.
“Practically, neither people nor the vehicle were harmed,” an official at the Federal Security Service’s border guard department in the North Caucasus told Itar-Tass.
He said the bomb went off not far from the border guard unit’s location at the moment when the convoy was moving out of its base.
“The type of the explosive device and its yield are being determined,” the official said.
The blast left a hole of 50 centimetres in diameter and 40 centimetres deep.
A group of investigators is working at the scene of the incident.
Ingush law enforcement agencies have started a search for the bomb blast perpetrators.
