An Estonian weeklyEesti Ekspresspublished on Friday information from a secret cable by the U.S. Embassy in Estonia, revealed by Wikileaks, noting that the embassy turned to a place where Estonian politicians constantly come to complain about Russia.
The newspaper mentions Estonian politicians, among whom reins an "eloquent total disbelief in the improvement of relations with Russia". In particular, the cable quotes statements by the Director of the Russian Department in the Estonian Foreign Ministry, Mart Volmer, who said that establishing good relations with Russia was an "unrealistic goal".
An adviser to the Estonian Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Kyullike Sillaste-Elling, complained to the U.S. Embassy that local politicians feared to establish normal relations with their Russian counterparts.
