At first it seemed that this would be so. Although even then it was explained that even with former dissidents by no means everything was at an end - some investigations remained in operational development. For a long time "work" on political opposition, if it was being conducted, was sufficiently unnoticeable. The last train carrying the equipment and personnel of Tbilisi's Russian military unit has arrived in Armenia. Colonel Vladimir Kuparadze, charged with supervising the withdrawal, announced that the military personnel, transport vehicles and military equipment arrived at the Russian base in Gyumri region of Armenia. Georgian Vice Defense Minister Levan Nikoleishvili noted that the day was a historical victory for Georgia. The withdrawal was completed ahead of schedule following tension between the current pro-Western Georgian administration, which came to the power following the velvet revolution in 2003, and Russia. Recently more and more reports are coming in, that the small german minority, still living in the Oblast,is getting more and more brutally oppressed. A leader of the german minority declared on german TV, that russian police, FSB and authorities are getting more and more ruthless in their behaviour against all minorities, especially against the Germans. One must know, that the real name of Kaliningrad is Königsberg, an illegally occupied german city. Königsberg was seized by russian troops in 1945, the indigenoues german population was brutally massacred and expelled.
