NatPress: "Khabze And Nur" (Moscow) Asks Not To Combine A Festival With Mourning

"Khabze and Nur" (Moscow) asks not to combine a festival with mourning

21 February 2010 – NatPress.Net

Public organization "Khabze and Nur”
115280, Moscow, st. Avtozavodskaya 17, 3-103.

Minister for Information, Communications,
work with community associations and youth
Kabardino-Balkar Republic
Mr. Pashtov B.S

Dear Boris Sultanovich!

It is gratifying to know that the Kabardino-Balkar Republic honored to host the All-Russia festival "Student spring”. Undoubtedly Nalchik as one of the most beautiful cities of Russia is worthy of this honor. Given the traditional hospitality of the peoples of Kabardino-Balkaria we have no doubt in the successful organization of the festival.

But our joy clouded by the fact that the closing day of the festival is May 21. As you know the 21 of May is a tragic and memorial day for all the Circassians (Adygeyans) in the world, on this day Circassians paid a tribute of respect who gave their lives in defense of the Circassian homeland.

The coincidence of the date of closing of the festival with the date of the day of memory and mourning has caused a wave of indignation among the Circassian (Adyghe) youth. We are concerned by the fact that when the Circassians on May 21 will conduct mourning marches and rallies, at the same time will be entertainment nationwide scale in the framework of the festival. On behalf of the whole Circassian (Adyghe) public, please comment on this fact and hope that the closing date of the festival will transfer to May 20.

Best regards

Kerth Talostan Tobievich
Head of NGO "Khabze and Nur"
