SKVO gangs are ready to intrude into Georgia. In response U.S. send thousand of its marines to Tbilisi
Publication time: 10 July 2008, 16:47
The occupation gangs of SKVO (the so-called "North Caucasian Military District") "are ready to provide assistance to Russian peacekeepers in Abkhazia and South Ossetia in the event of an escalation of situation in the conflict zones", SKVO ringleader Sergei Makarov said.

We would like to remind that SKVO's gang formations are invading the territory of the Caucasus Emirate. In the past few days those gang formations have been conducting large-scale military maneuvers near the border with Georgia.

"The major tasks for SKVO in the event of an escalation or the launch of combat action between the conflicting sides are: the provision of assistance to the peacekeeping troops so as to separate the forces of the conflicting sides; the provision of humanitarian assistance to the population residing in the conflict zones," ringleader said.

Makarov has confirmed that military exercises designed to polish the script incursion into Georgia.

"Recent military exercise involving SKVO units aimed at "working out actions" required in the event of a flare-up in tensions in the Georgian conflict zones", Makarov said.

"I want to assure you that the results of already conducted exercises, as well as on the results of inspections and monitoring exercises, military compounds of SKVO are effective and are ready to do any combat missions in the region", the military ringleader underlined.

Meanwhile, a joint exercise of troops from the US, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and Ukraine started in a Tbilisi suburb, announced the European command of the US armed forces, headquartered in Stuttgart.

The exercise, called "The immediate response-2008" held from July 5 at the Vaziani military base - less than 100 km from the border with Russia - "in the spirit of NATO" Partnership for Peace ".  They are involved about 1 thousands of American paratroopers and marines.

According to a press release, circulated on Wednesday, the war games under the code-name of "Immediate response 2008" are conducted since July 5 at the Vaziani military base (located less than 100 kilometres from the Russian border) in the spirit of the NATO programme Partnership for Peace. They involve 1,000 American paratroopers and marines.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice met on Thursday the president of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili, as well as with the leaders of Georgian opposition parties and non-governmental organizations and with parliament former speaker Nino Burdzhanadze.

The issues of conflict with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, Georgia's integration into NATO have been discussed.

We would like to remind on Wednesday, when Rice arrives to Tbilisi, Georgia accused Russia of military incursions of its airspace by military aircraft.

Russia does not comment on that statement, but earlier, once again accused Tbilisi of provocations in the conflict zones. In doing so, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that the U.S. intend to "shield the provocateurs", endorsing Georgia's position.

In Sofia, before departure to Georgia Condoleezza Rice has said: "The United States considers the territorial integrity of Georgia to be inviolable. There have been a number of moves recently by the Russian Federation that have, in fact, not been helpful in terms of the frozen conflict there with Georgia and Abkhazia".

UN Security Council is debating a draft resolution proposed by Russia, which says that actions of Tbilisi threaten peace in the Caucasus. In particular, the Georgian side is to be responsible for the recent series of explosions in the zone of Georgian-Abkhaz conflict.

The deputy commander of the Georgian Air Force Zurab Pochkhua said on Wednesday that on previous night four Russian aircraft entered the territory of South Ossetia, for about 40 minutes.

On board the aircraft Condoleezza Rice, a member of the American delegation spoke about the role of Russia even more frankly than she.  He wished to remain anonymous.

A U.S. official travelling with Rice to Tbilisi said a simmering confrontation between Georgia and Russia over two breakaway regions could lead to a catastrophe, and that Moscow should realise it is no longer Georgia's imperial master.

"Russia needs to realise that the empire is gone. Austria-Hungary is not coming back. The Ottoman empire is not coming back and the Soviet empire is not coming back," the U.S. official, who did not want to be identified, told reporters.

"It's our belief that a military cycle of confrontation will simply develop a momentum of its own and could lead to a catastrophe in the region," he said on board Rice's plane.

Asked what he meant he said: "A renewed cycle of fighting, which would be horrific."

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Thursday in Tbilisi at a joint briefing with President Mikhail Saakashvili expressed support for Georgia's bid to join the NATO, saying that being a NATO member was Georgia's future.

"The US supports Georgia's aspirations into the Alliance. At a meeting in Bucharest this spring the United States worked very actively and a main message is that the future of Georgia is in NATO", Rice said.

Individual Partnership Action Plan of Georgia with NATO (IPAP) and the Membership Action Plan (MAP) does not mean automatic membership into NATO, but they are the main road, walking on which Georgia is building a more democratic country.

For his part, President Saakashvili said that Tbilisi hoped Georgia and Ukraine would be granted MAP at a NATO foreign ministerial council in December and Secretary Rice responded that the United States was working on the matter.
