GROZNY, September 6 (Itar-Tass) - Two police officers from the republic of Buryatia were killed in Chechnya's Naursky district on Wednesday, Chechen police told Itar-Tass.
"The officers came under automatic fire in the village of Alpatovo, at the crossroads of Krasnoarmeiskaya and Komsomolskaya Streets, 200 meters from a police checkpoint," the Chechen Interior Ministry said.
"The commander of the Buryatia unit gave permission to the two officers to leave the premises to buy some food," the Interior Ministry said.
The officers died of their gunshot wounds. The attackers stole their service weapon - an AKTsU-74 assault rifle.
