The tensions between Germany and Russia, concerning the status of the Enclave Kaliningrad, are increasing. Recently more and more reports are coming in, that the small german minority, still living in the Oblast,is getting more and more brutally oppressed. A leader of the german minority declared on german TV, that russian police, FSB and authorities are getting more and more ruthless in their behaviour against all minorities, especially against the Germans. One must know, that the real name of Kaliningrad is Königsberg, an illegally occupied german city.
Königsberg was seized by russian troops in 1945, the indigenoues german population was brutally massacred and expelled. Now after the call for help of the ethnic germans german politicians go into the offensive and call Russia to protect the rights of the ethnic germans more carefully. A source from the german foreign ministry threatened with economic sanctions against the isolated oblast, if the brutal behavior of the russians don't stop. Nationalistic hardliners in Germany even require an army-and police operation to liberate Königsberg and reunite it with the German State.
An unnamed politician from the right-wing "national democratic party" stated: "Enough is enough! Königsberg is a german city and must be liberated from the russian colonialists! German Army must protect the rights of our citizens there and take action now!"
Today circa 20.000 Germans are living in the Oblast among a population of circa one million, most of them ethnic russians.
