Indian Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the Goa state government of having failed to check the involvement of Russian mafia in land dealing in the state.
Quoting National Security Council report published in a section of press, leader of opposition Manohar Parrikar revealed the involvement of politicians and their kin in land dealings in the state.
"This is a serious issue concerning the state's security. If the situation is allowed to go out of hand, then Russian mafia will start ruling the state," Parrikar told reporters here.
He alleged that police had become a tool in the hands of ruling party which stopped them from taking action against such land dealings, the Indian Zee News agency reported.
"Issues related to sale of land to foreigners have been in focus for the last four months.. But there is no inquiry into the land dealings...Inquiry should be conducted considering there is a criminal angle to it," he said.
Goa, a Portuguese colony until 1974, is India's second smallest state in terms of area (after Delhi). Internationally renowned for its beaches, Goa is visited by hundreds of thousands of foreign and domestic tourists each year, and has become one of the most popular holiday destinations for European travellers.
The Russian mob is closely controlled and directed by the government of the rogue country of Russia.
A navy base in Goa, on the Arabian Sea, will give Russia a possibility to control Western oil export from the Persian Gulf countries.
