Georgia, Russia experts to meet over military bases pullout

TBILISI, July 5 (Itar-Tass) - A meeting of Georgian and Russian experts on issues related to the implementation of agreements on the order of functioning and withdrawal of Russian military bases from Batumi and Akhalkalaki will be held in the Georgian capital on Tuesday, the Russian Embassy in Georgia told Itar-Tass.
Deputy Director of the Fourth Department of CIS Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Semen Grigoryev will head the Russian delegation at the talks.
The expert groups consist of the two countries’ Foreign and Defence Ministry officials.
The previous meeting of the experts was held in Tbilisi on June 8-9. They discussed issues related to the implementation of a statement made by the Georgian Foreign Ministry officials on May 30 on the bases pullout. The experts coordinated then most of the issues “of the transformation of the signed statement into a legally binding document in the form of agreement,” the embassy official said.
