Ukraine’s Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko believes that the agreement on cooperation signed by Russia’s pro-Kremlin United Russia party and the Ukrainian Party of Regions marks the beginning of a parliamentary campaign in Ukraine.
“This is, beyond doubt, the go-ahead for the beginning of the election campaign,” she said. “The parliamentary election campaign has begun.”
“As regards the attempts on the part of any country to exert influence on the campaign in Ukraine, we have the experience and we know that such influences lead to a bad end, both for those who fall under them and those from whom they emanate,” the prime minister added.
Tymoshenko made her statement after the Party of Regions of Ukraine and Russia’s United Russia signed an agreement on cooperation in Kiev on Saturday, the Korrespondent.net website reported. http://www.mosnews.com/news/2005/07/04/tymoshparties.shtml
