The Olympic Games in Russia's Sochi may not take place. Russia may lose the information war that is currently being waged by Georgia. The latter actively propagates the so-called "Cirkassian issue". This opinion was expressed by Vladimir Zakharov, the Director of the Institute of the Black Sea-Caspian region, in an exclusive interview with GeorgiaTimes.
"Georgia, supported by the Jamestown Foundation, has been building up a highly painful subject for the Caucasus - the genocide of the Cirkassians by Russia. "Russia, unfortunately, has not developed its counter-propaganda," said Zakharov.
According to him, it is the Russian budget in the first place that works for the organization of the Olympic Games in Sochi. Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili and his propagandists, Zakharov said, will continue to propagate the issue of Russia's "genocide" of the Circassians.

First of all I would like to thank to the valuable members of the parliament and Federation of European Circassians for providing us the opportunity to express our ideas.
May 21st 1864 symbolizes the biggest tragedy in the Circassian history, the genocide and the exile. While Tsarist Russian armies were celebrating their victory in Kbaada, or with the new name Krasnaya Polyana, hundreds of thousands of people were massacred and as many as those were exiled from their homeland as a part of the plan which is aimed to clear Circassians permanently from Circassia. For Circassians May 21st is a critical point, and the start of the bloody process in order to end their existence.
142 years later, in 2006, proposition of Sochi, the capital of Circassia as the candidate for Winter Olympics, by ignoring all the massacres, genocide and exile, resulted in a huge reaction by Circassians. ...
Genocide Recognition as a key issue in the Circassian revival
How the issue of genocide recognition has been reinforced as a key Circassian issue that has been strongly enhanced by 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics as a mega sports event taking place at key locations in the historical Circassian homeland. This has generated both renewed transnational Circassian memorialisation and mobilisation – in a process that increasingly managed to target the Russian authorities and official Russian minority policies in the North Caucasus.
