Vancouver’s Trip To Protest Holding Sochi Winter Olympic Games In 2014

February 10^th, 2010 marked the beginning of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Members of the NO SOCHI 2014 COMMITTEE were present in Vancouver to commemorate the commencement of the global Circassian movement that has been mobilized against the Sochi Winter Games; ‘No Sochi 2014’. Along with other groups, the Committee raised awareness of the crimes committed by the I.O.C. (International Olympic Committee), its sponsors and supporters. The following will document the group’s itinerary throughout their trip in Vancouver.

During the first day, the Committee members met with their supporters in Vancouver. This included representatives from the First Nation, the indigenous peoples of Canada, as well as environmentalists and anti-Olympic groups. Rumour has it that Vancouver and Whistler may need to step in for Sochi during the 2014 Olympics. The mere suggestion of hosting the Olympics twice in four years is being met with shudders by local residents.

AssociatedContent.com writes how the IOC may have to move the 2014 Sochi Olympics to another city for the first time in history or cancel them for the first time since WWII and Kootenay Mountain Culture Magazine reports that the Russian host city is having challenges in meetings its timelines and obligations.

A small group of American Circassians have come to Vancouver with a strong message to the world: "If you let the 2014 games go on as planned in Russia, you'll be skiing on the graves of our oppressed ancestors."
