Step Forward, May, 2011
A special
article used to be posted every year in this site on the 21st of May
every year, which is attached to the Circassian Memorial Day, to memorize the
atrocities inflicted by Tsarist Russian Imperial Empire, and to evaluate the
ongoing disastrous consequences.
This
special event that is directly connected to 21, May, 1864, has legally evolved
through legislative channels from Tbilisi, the capital city of the Caucasian
Republic of Georgia, after more than one year of studying the request that was
presented by Circassians in March, 2010, in regard to recognizing the
Circassian Genocide that had taken place against the Circassian nation in the nineteenth
Century.
The
Parliament of Georgian had formed the past year studying and analyzing frames
and bodies through several committees and assisted by scholars, historians and

Dear ladies and gentlemen deputies!
We appeal to you to recognize the Circassian Genocide committed by Russian government in the XVIII-XIX centuries, during and after the Russian-Circassian War 1763-1864 years, when more than 95% of the population formerly prosperous country were either destroyed or forcibly relocated to the Ottoman Empire.
The underlying ideology of this war was a genocidal - one of only a slogan "without Circassia Circassian" often found in the documents of the king's generals, which is worth it! And do not recognize today the genocide by Georgia, next door neighbor back home Circassians, would support the position that time, and today's Russia, in this unredeemed egregious crimes against humanity.

Throughout imperial history, occupying and colonizing countries that assume domination and practice of absolute rule and authority in order to change the reality, features and landmarks in all walks of life of the colonized nations aim to the farthest extent possible, from the outset to the exclusion of the indigenous people to bear the responsibility for governing themselves by themselves, unless the subjugated nation opposes such authoritarian policy, which tend to force and compel the greedy and covetous State to comply with ambitions to the demands of freedom to choose own destiny that necessarily would lead to independence.

There is "a significant lobby” within the Georgian Parliament pushing for recognizing 19th century massacre and deportations of Circassians by the Tsarist Russia in the northwest Caucasus as "genocide,” a ruling party lawmaker told Civil.ge on May 11. The Parliament may take decision on the issue during the current spring session, said MP Nugzar Tsiklauri, who chairs the parliamentary committee on diaspora and Caucasus issues.
