According to Russian historians, May 21, 2010, in the Gregorian calendar, marks 146 years since the end of the active phase of the First Russo-Caucasian War, which started around 1763, becoming the longest war in the history of mankind.

The war that once began as a Russo-Chechen War (Russo-Caucasian War usually refers to the period 1817-1864) has returned with its remarkable ferocity in December 11, 1994, evolving into the Second Russo-Caucasian War.

May 21: Russian terror against demonstrators in Nalchick (capital of Kabardino-Balkaria)
May 21 - Circassians, as in all other parts of the globe where they were scattered in consequence of genocidal war, commemorated Memorial Day of Adyghes (Circassians) - Victims of the Russian-Circassian War, in the years of 1763-1864.

146 years ago, it was completed - the conquest of Circassia, the destruction and expulsion of its population into exile who survived this hell.

Today Circassians live in many countries. They live separate also in their historic homeland. Nevertheless, we believe that our future is one, as well as our past.

We would like to put pictures taken on this day in Nalchik the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria (Eastern Circassia) in which there was Memorial Day held in difficult circumstances.

All the Circassian community organizations are experiencing very severe pressure from the government and semi-criminal elements. The republic is in complicated criminological situation, the daily ...

Circassians in Turkey: lonely no longer

AT A Hindu temple in Chicago, hundreds of people of Indian descent, professing many faiths, turned up from across Illinois and farther afield to hear a speaker from back home. But the meeting on May 15th was not the usual style of diaspora politics, in which a nation’s far-flung children are urged to cheer for the homeland.
