Phenomena In The Circassian World - By Ali Kasht

Despite the serious challenges facing the Circassian nation especially
at this time, threatening its national identity and ideology, and aimed
at the elimination of its uniqueness, a nation - like all nations -
with an ideology, culture and identity that distinguishes it from other
nations. But it is noted that there’s an absence of any integrated
project with national dimension that aims to Preserve the national
identity of the Circassian people, and even the on-ground projects do
not live up to the level of challenges that threaten the elimination of
the nationalism of this nation. No wonder that there are some
Circassian point of views that are seen by some people as flimsy to
explain the absence of any national projects of national standard until
now, where the Observer who follows the Circassian issues is shocked by
the destruction ... | >> full

The famous Circassian Website (Circassian
World) published an article on 25/3/2010 entitled "Crimes of Some Nations
are Hidden more than Others", the article was addressing the conference,
which was held in the Georgian Capital City of Tbilisi, under the title,
"Hidden Nations, Enduring Crimes: The Circassians and the People of the North
Caucasus Between Past and Future (Tbilisi, March 19-21, 2010)”, the article
viewed that the conference which was organized in cooperation between the
Jamestown Foundation in the United States and the International School for
Caucasus Studies in Tbilisi, had put forward the Georgian/ U.S. vision, which
is biased to the Georgian side in its conflict with the Abkhaz side, and that
the conference had served the interests of Georgia, which didn’t refer to the
"Georgian genocide against Abkhazians". The author of the article
presented a historical ... >> full

The Georgian Parliament will be asked to recognise the genocide of the Circassian ('Cherkess') people committed by Russia in the 19th century. A document to this effect was adopted at a conference held by the Jamestown Foundation in Tbilisi on March 21 and entitled "Continuing Crime: Circassians and the Peoples of the North Caucasus Past and Future.” The alleged Circassian genocide ostensibly happened during the Russo-Circassian War, conducted in Circassia (present day Russia's Krasnodar Krai, republics of Adygea and Karachay-Cherkessia), the northwestern part of the Caucasus. The war ended in 1864 with annexation of these lands to the Russian Empire. During the 1860s much of the Circassian population was expelled from their lands. Historians site figures as large as 500,000 and greater. A large fraction of them died in transit. This expulsion and other actions of the Russian military has given rise to a movement for international ... | >> full
