The executive committee “Adyghe Khasa” of Adygeya on December, 24th made a decision on carrying out of a meeting in Maykop. A protest action should be aimed against unwillingness of the state authorities of the republic to cooperate in solving the three problems: the status of Adygeyan language, illegal fixing on the territory of the republic the religious symbolics and suspension of construction of a monument to “Adygeyan people”.

Members of the executive committee present at the session voted for carrying out of such meeting unanimously. The further procedure was adoption of the decision by the council of the public organization.

Let's remind, in the demands concerned the status of Adygeyan language there is cancelling of the recently brought in the law on the language of the item on its unessential (facultative) learning in preschool and school educational establishments. On Friday, December, 25th chairmen of the three Circassian (Adygeyan) social movements signed an appeal to the president of Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev in occasion of the statements made by the plenipotentiary of the president in the Southern federal district Vladimir Ustinov at the meeting with the members of the Council of Federation on December, 22nd. The appeal was signed by the chairman of the social movement "Adyghe Khasa" of Adygeya Arambiy Hapay, the chairman of the Krasnodar regional social movement "Adyghe Khasa", the deputy of the State Council of Adygeya Azamet Skhaliaho and the chairman of the Public parliament of the Black sea Adygs-Shapsugs Madjid Chachuh.

The authorities and opposition movements in the Circassian republics of the northwestern Caucasus have returned to negotiations after a series of protest demonstrations and violent attacks targeting the leaders of Circassian non-governmental organizations (EDM, November 18 and 25, December 3).

On October 30, the parliament of Kabardino-Balkaria (KBR) issued a new law taking around 30,000 hectares of pastures from Circassian villages and giving them to their Balkar neighbors. On November 12, three articles were removed from the KBR as “separatist” laws. On November 17 two non-profit movements, the Circassian Congress (CC) and Khasa, organized a mass demonstration in Nalchik against the new land law, with CC leader Ruslan Keshev declaring: “We are ready for radical actions” (EDM, November 18, 25).

The assistant of IА “REGNUM” operating director Konstantin Kazenin met in Maykop on December, 14th with the chairman of “Adyghe Khasa” executive committee of Adygeya Arambiy Hapay. Questions of the journalist concerned the aggravated political situation in Kabardino-Balkaria and ways-out from the crisis.

The chairman of the public movement told about conversations which he had had in Nalchik with Muhamed Cherkesov, the head of “Adyghe Khasa” movement of Karachaevo-Circassia. They had met representatives of the KBR sports elite, Ibrahim Yaganov, and the republican president Arsen Kanokov. The purpose of those negotiations was finding the points to mutual understanding between the parties which there are rather many, “Adyghe Khasa” chairman of Adygeya said.

PARAMONOVO, Russia (Reuters) - Moscow region officials have said they could host the 2014 Olympic bobsleigh and luge events if the Russian Black Sea resort of Sochi can not build the track on time.

"If the situation with Sochi becomes difficult, we are ready to help," the head of the Dmitrov region Valery Gavrilov told a news conference at the weekend at the conclusion of a junior World Cup luge event in the town of Paramonovo.

While Russian officials say the construction of all 2014 venues are on schedule and IOC president Jacques Rogge told reporters during his visit to Moscow in October he was happy with Sochi's progress, the bobsleigh and luge track has given local organisers a major headache.
