Panel 1: Russia & the Fitire of the North Caucasus.

The panel was moderated by Professor Moshe Gammer, Tei-Aviv University. 

First, Professor Peter Reddaway University George Washington, gave a presentation about - Russian politics: Future Scenarios and Implications for the North Caucasus. One of the possible scenarios that he mentioned is that because the Russian government is corrupt and weak problems in the Caucasus are beyond its abilities and cannot deal with them and in the future may decide to separate from the Caucasus. 

Pavel K. Baev, International Peace Research Institute in Oslo Norway, noted that the North Caucasus is still isolated from the international scene.

Bomb halts trains outside Sochi, Russia

MATSESTA, Russia, Nov. 21 (UPI) -- A bomb halted rail services for a time Sunday outside Sochi, the Russian resort city scheduled to host the 2014 Winter Olympics, police said.

The blast occurred late Saturday at a train station on Matsesta, a few miles south of Sochi, damaging a section of track.

No one was injured but police told RIA Novosti that train service was disrupted temporarily. Service was back to normal by daybreak Sunday.

It was not known who planted the device.
