Top
10 Reasons for Opposing Sochi 2014
The Sochi Olympics of 2014
will be the 150th commemorative year of the Circassian Genocide.
Choosing Sochi as the site of the Winter Olympics, in such an auspicious year
for the Russians, represents the perpetual celebration of Imperial Russia’s
oppression and systematic murder of the Circassian People. Building the Olympic
Village over the mass graves of the victims symbolizes the virtual erasing of
this atrocity!
- Krasnaya Polyana (dubbed “The Red Hill” by the Russian
troops for the quantity of Circassian blood spilled there) is the area that will be the center of
the 2014 Olympic Games and the place where, on May 21, 1864, Russian
troops celebrated the end of the war with Circassians.
- Sochi,
the Circassian capital and land of the genocide, is the historical site of
the nation’s exile of over ...

History and Theory of the Adyghian Clappers, by Alla Sokolova
Alla Sokolova
I could write at
length about the Adyghian clappers. I have written a book about this
instrument. However, this paper will first introduce the instrument,
and then discuss some basic matters as well as some questions to which
Russian researchers have, in the meantime, partly found answers.
What
are the Adyghian clappers? In the Adyghian language they are referred
to as pkhachich – “pkha” is tree and “chich” is onomatopoeia. According
to the systematization of Ernst Moritz von Hornbostel and Curt
Sachs1, pkhachich refers to the group of simultaneously strucked
idiophones (111.12: clappers).
Pkhachich consists of 7 to 9
small (palm-size) simultaneously struck wooden plates that are ... | >> full
