Russian Double standards between the Olympic Principles and Repressive Measures

The double standards in the application of Russian policy in dealing with the peoples and nations of the North Caucasus , especially in this area, the Circassian nation, in the course of the opening ceremonies of the Sochi Winter Olympic Games and excessive show of extravagance and exaggeration , arrogance and vanity in celebrations that cannot be seen except on the theater of those who want to change the facts on the ground, nay cover up and hide to absent a nation that was robbed of its identity, rights and usurped of its homeland forcibly and treacherously, and at the same time working to unleash its security and intelligence services to confront violently and to arrest dozens of young Circassians wanted to demonstrate in Nalchik, the capital city of the Republic of Kabardino – Balkaria to coincide with the inauguration day of the Games which are objectionable in sense, conduct and legality, in order to express peacefully and in a civilized way their painful feeling and kindled emotions reminding them of ancestors who died while defending a heroic and legendary defense for their homeland and their nation, and those who have been deported from their original homeland to other areas either far from the shores of the Black Sea or away from home to the Ottoman Empire through the Black Sea.

The Russian authorities have always and continuously shown their intentions and actions which are Instinct and spontaneous, and indicates schizophrenia in the character and prestige of a state that did not know in its history except domination, wars and control of the destinies of others. Russia did not stop one day its relentless and constant pursuit being laying the foundation principles of authoritarian control by methods of oppression, repression, murder, deportation and abhorrent racism in its hectic efforts  to impose a fake reality based on the principle of cancellation and exclusion of the other,  through arbitrary arrests and disregard, as the positive changes in world human rights field, the restoration of the legitimate rights and assuring self-determination that have occurred in the international arena have not yet deterred Russia from going too far, arrogance and continued policies of the Tsarist Russian Empire and the collapsed Soviet Union.

The Russian policies which lack wisdom, ineffectual and clumsy, are based on mobilizing all the potentials of the Russian state in order to work on publishing propaganda and disinformation against anyone who wants to claim the legitimate rights, and at the same time sailing against the stream of moderation and reconciliation between peoples, and allows to make its media a Russian mouthpiece that spews poison against the Circassian ambitions and the goals of the Circassian nation for the restoration of its usurped rights, rather than engaging in regional and international friendly relationships between peoples and to work to resolve unsolved issues for decades, which grow and increase like a snowball day after day as a result of the Russian intransigence, which helps in increasing the gap and the absence of constructive dialogue .

We, the undersigned witness the world as we urge the Russian state and its rulers to distinguish and choose; they have to be civilized, respect international laws, norms and conventions, embrace peace, implement justice, democracy and decolonization, rather than taken uncivilized position, ignoring international laws, norms and conventions, adopting war policies, repression, dictatorship, and colonialism, and to choose siding to protect the dignity of the people and the peaceful coexistence between peoples and nations.
