Adyghe Khasa in Maikop Decided to Declare Next Year, "A Year of Grief ”

Adyghe Khasa in Maikop has taken a decision to declare the year 2014 "A Year of Grief", the basis of this decision is - next year coincides with the memory of the passage of 150 years of the end of the Russian-Caucasian War; the Russian leadership ignores the Circassians’ demands related to the Olympics. This proposal was presented to the Executive Committee for consideration, by the Thamada (Chief) of the Association, Mr. Zaurbi Chundeshko on the 14th of November. On the same day the decision was taken after voting by a majority, with one abstention.

According to Mr. Zaurbi Chundeshko’s saying, he spoke on the subject preliminarily with some members of the Executive Committee and he knows their opinion. It is appropriate to broach the subject at the time so that each of those present would give his opinion, and because the topic is very important and complicated, it is not permissible for one to ask others to take a prompt decision.

Nevertheless, the entire discussed views by the members of the Executive Committee who took part have been common. They themselves insisted on voting on the same day.

The following have participated in the discussion panel, Zaurbi Chundeshko, Arambi Khapai, Sergei Kopelev, Aslan Chichiz, Khazrael Khanakhuk, Mahmoud Miritukov, Ali Bghane and Askarbe Jigiryev. All have voted in agreement with the decision except Askarbe Jigiryev, who left the meeting with apology, and did not participate in the voting.
