A Fair
Step Forward, May, 2011
A special
article used to be posted every year in this site on the 21st of May
every year, which is attached to the Circassian Memorial Day, to memorize the
atrocities inflicted by Tsarist Russian Imperial Empire, and to evaluate the
ongoing disastrous consequences.
This
special event that is directly connected to 21, May, 1864, has legally evolved
through legislative channels from Tbilisi, the capital city of the Caucasian
Republic of Georgia, after more than one year of studying the request that was
presented by Circassians in March, 2010, in regard to recognizing the
Circassian Genocide that had taken place against the Circassian nation in the nineteenth
Century.
The
Parliament of Georgian had formed the past year studying and analyzing frames
and bodies through several committees and assisted by scholars, historians and
scientists who referred to deeds beyond doubt such as Tbilisi Archives that
contain original and legitimate documents that were written by the perpetrating
leaders and commanders themselves.
Those
professionals who testified about their findings were from many different countries
including Russia. On the 19th of May, 2011, then on the 20th,
the Parliament of Georgia’s concerned committees have adopted a draft and the
Parliament has voted in favor of adopting the resolution.
For
paying back to Georgians and in the same sincere way, in less than 24 hours,
Circassians participating in the Circassian Memorial Day in Nalchik, the
capital city of KBR, on the 21st of May, they have raised Georgian
flag beside the Circassian flag, and even the Georgian flag was laid on
Memorial Site.
Not to underestimate
or ignore the increase of active Circassian participation in locations that
commemorated Circassian Memorial Day and the increase of the number of participants,
with new feature this year, that is Circassians had performed a silent
demonstration for the first time in front of the Russian Embassy in Amman, the
capital city of Jordan while holding signs such as "Recognize the Circassian
Genocide” and "No To Sochi Olympics On The Land Of Genocide”.
Today,
the 26th of May, on the occasion of the Georgian National Day, it is
our duty to present our sincerest congratulations to the Georgian nation hoping
that Georgia will not hesitate to solve out its regional problems with Abkhazia
and South Ossetia in order to allow the peoples of the Caucasus to take their
own affairs without any foreign dependency or intervention.
Hoping that
the latest Georgian step will be first step towards warmer and stronger ties
and relations between all the peoples and nations of the Caucasus to promote
peace in the Caucasus Region and to practice their legitimate right of freedom
to choose own destiny.
