On the 20.5.2010 a demonstration was held in the town of Haifa, Israel in front of the Russian consulates house. Over 50 Circassians from the village of Kfar-Kama took part in the demonstration. The protesters carried signs and called Russia to free Circassia, to recognize the Circassian genocide and opposed to the 2014 Sochi Olympics. The demonstration was conducted with no disorders and pamphlets, with information about the Circassians and the genocide, were handed out to passers-by. Also, several men gave speeches:
Sawser Hatukay, who talked about the goals of the protest and the responsibility that every Circassian carries due to the tragic history of the Circassian people. Nooradeen Shoobash, that explained the fact that there is no conflict in being Circassian and a Muslim furthermore, preserving our heritage and language and taking part in demonstrations and memorial ceremonies are part of our duties as Muslims. Aladeen Hatukay, who talked about all the difficulties that his family had on the way after they were deported from Circassia and explained that every family had to go through the same horrible travel.
In the beginning of the demonstration the man who seemed to be in charge of the consulate came out to observe the protesters but when one of them tried to give him the pamphlet, he was handing out, he backed off and closed the gates of the building.
The demonstration was covered by several reporters from the Jew and Arabic media. Articles about the demonstration, which was the first ever to be held by the Circassians of Israel, were published on the web sites and on the national radio of Israel, in Hebrew as well as in Arabic.
