posted by eagle on November, 2009 as CIRCASSIA ADIGA

Protest actions of Sochi citizens took place in Moscow
29.11.2009

On November, 23rd a number of the public actions of Sochi inhabitants took place in Moscow. Sochi inhabitants opposed: the compulsory eviction planned during the preparation to the Olympiad-2014; actions of the municipal and the regional authorities which had transformed the former "all-Union" resort into an object of their personal business, and which are breaking the inhabitants’ constitutional laws on the regular basis; destruction of the historical view of the town and its unique natural complex.

In the beginning, the picketing of the Russian President Administration at 12:00 a.m. took place. It was assumed to hold near the Administration a series of single pickets; however the action had been interrupted by militia employees, who demanded to take away the posters as the action had not been officially declared. In reply to objections, that according to the norms of the legislation, a single picket does not demand an official notice, militiamen declared that they received the order to detain Sochi inhabitants if they refused to curtail their posters.

As a result continuation of the action was transferred from the building of the President Administration, and proceeded on the Pushkin square.

The basic slogans of the action: "We demand negotiations!"; "SOS Sochi!"; "Dmitry Anatolevich, protect Sochi inhabitants!"; "We are for people’s Olympiad! We are against inhabitants’ eviction!"

The same day a series of single pickets near the building of the State Duma of Russian Federation from 1.30 till 3.00 a.m. took place. During the action Sochi inhabitants handled the appeals of the inhabitants to the deputy from the fraction of the Communist Party of Russian Federation Sergey Obukhov.

The basic slogans of the action near the State Duma: "Deputies! Pay attention to people!"; "Sochi inhabitants became vagabonds - necessarily!", "SOS Sochi!"; "We for people’s Olympiad! We are against inhabitants’ eviction!", "We shall protect the nature of Sochi – the national property of peoples of Russia!"

As the organizer of the action "Union of Imeretinka inhabitants" (Imeretinskaya lowland (Imeretinka) – the area of Sochi where accommodation of the majority of the Olympic objects is supposed) acted.
