From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 7/2/2005 7:15 AM Lavrov's airplane was delayed by the secret services. Why? Russian media report that the airplane of Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov was delayed for one hour by the secret services of the Netherlands before its departure from the international airport of Amsterdam. The Russians assert that the Dutch side had justified the delay with the fact that some people had allegedly attempted to intrude on board of the plane during the night of 27-28 June. But later the Dutch are said to have advanced another version - that some people in black masks had shown very strong interest for the airplane of the chief of the Russian MFA. The secret services of the Netherlands proposed to the Russian side to carry out a complete search of the airplane; however, the Russian side refused a search. The real reasons for the delay of Lavrov's airplane in Amsterdam thus remain unknown Let us recall that the MFA of the RF used diplomatic ... >> full

Then there was nothing else left, but to thank the readers for attention and to say goodbye… But instead of it we will have to return again back to the "sources", to the 80th years - and to begin everything almost from the beginning again! It is necessary to reconsider the concept of development of our society considerably again: new materials have been involved in our scheme of how the struggle between security officers' groupings proceeded, ineradicable contradictions have appeared again - again we have to break everything and to ... >> full

From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 7/3/2005 9:08 AM Jul 1 2005 9:41PM Sergei Yastrzhembsky: Foreign journalists shouldn't advise us on Kaliningrad Sergei Yastrzhembsky, the Russian presidential envoy to the European Union, complained on Friday about comments in Polish and Lithuanian media in connection with planned celebrations of the 750th anniversary of Kaliningrad. "We are concerned about the speculative character of some publications in the mass media by the closest neighbors of the Kaliningrad region and about attempts by the authors of the publications to give us some advice, or even force on Russia, their vision of the format for the celebration of the city's jubilee," Yastrzhembsky told Interfax. "If things keep going at this rate, soon we'll probably hear from the same sources what Russians should eat and drink, how they should dress and what they should say," he said. Yastrzhembsky said the governor and legislature of the Kaliningrad region and the mayor of Kaliningrad city had sent invitations to the festivities to 14 countries. "In particular, there will be the ... >> full

Alexei Levinson. Who Needs the Chechen War

From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 7/4/2005 1:41 AM Alexei Levinson. Who Needs the Chechen War hear the noise; it does not hear itself A.K. The way we act directly depends on the categories by means of which we order and organise social reality. This, roughly, is what sociologists mean when they talk about the discursive organisation of society. In what follows I would like to propose some thoughts on the categories at the basis of the discursive organisation of Russian society. More precisely, on those which determine the perception of migration in Russia. Russian officials always know which card to draw from their rhetorical pack. Depending on the situation, they either talk about the multinational character of the country, about the need to reinforce the friendship between peoples and foster "dialogue between cultures", about the "national question" (which, appendix-like, is in the habit of unexpectedly causing pain to the state organism) growing more serious, or about "inter-ethnic relations" worsening (assuming that relations between "ethnies", like those between neighbours, ... >> full

The black-and-white world of Garry Kasparov

From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 7/5/2005 6:09 PM RIA Novosti The black-and-white world of Garry Kasparov 05/07/2005 16:45 MOSCOW. (RIA Novosti political commentator Peter Lavelle.) Garry Kasparov claims to have retired from chess, or simply quit, to take an active role in opposition politics. If Kasparov intends to lead or organize Russia’s liberals against the Kremlin in 2008, Russian liberalism – weak as it already is – may find itself facing extinction for a generation. Kasparov is the Kremlin’s greatest hope to sustain the current political status quo for years to come. It is hard to know whether to cry or laugh when thinking about Kasparov’s reawakened interest in politics. His comment that he will "do everything possible to fight Vladimir Putin's dictatorship” is the kind of zinger the Western media live for. At the same time, many hostile Western editorials refuse to come to terms with the fact that Putin’s opinion-poll ratings remain extremely high, or that Kasparov (or any other political figure) can speak his mind under ... >> full
