RZHEV (Tver region), June 16 (Itar-Tass) - An epidemic of hepatitis A in southwestern parts of Russia’s Tver region has been localized, regional governor Dmitry Zelenin said here on Thursday.
According to the governor, the number of patients has declined over the past three days. “Ninety-six people have already checked out of hospital,” Zelenin noted. He hailed the work of medics and the center, set up to deal with the epidemic, saying medicines and vaccines come in sufficient amounts.
The governor believes it is necessary to “already now consider ways to prevent such a situation in the future.” Foodstuffs were to blame for the epidemic, he reminded.
He also said it is necessary to solve the problem of the Rzhev water intake system, which is in poor condition. “We shall try to have that object put on the federal targeted program,” the governor emphasized.
