From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 3/15/2006 6:11 AM Hamas Talks Chechnya With Kremlin Lev Krichevsky JTA Wire Service MARCH 12, 2006 Moscow Russia's invitation to Hamas to come to Moscow for talks failed to yield any concessions from the terrorist group that is about to take over the Palestinian Authority -- but it may have paid some dividends for Moscow. Russian critics of the visit -- including most of the nation's leading newspapers and political analysts -- accused President Vladimir Putin of double standards on terrorism and said Russia's gamble was targeted at boosting the country's global influence, which has declined greatly since Soviet times. Now that the visit is over, some say Moscow satisfied its ambition without striking a mortal blow to Russian-Israeli relations. Israel was furious that Russia undermined its efforts to isolate a Hamas-led Palestinian Authority, arguing that while Hamas leaders offered no concessions at the talks -- they refused to renounce violence or recognize Israel -- an invitation from one of the countries overseeing the "road map" peace ... >> full

From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 3/17/2006 1:19 AM Friday, March 17, 2006. Issue 3373. Not by Bread Alone By Michele A. Berdy Хлебное место: a cushy job, a good trading spot, a money-producer You probably never thought much about bread until you came to Russia. But хлеб (bread) in Russia is serious business, and linguistically a bit confusing. It's definitely more than just the stuff on the outside of a sandwich. The first thing you learn is the difference between белый (white) bread and чёрный (black) bread, which is really not black at all; it's what we foreigners call brown, rye or pumpernickel bread. Life's a dream until you go to St. Petersburg, where хлеб only means brown bread, and white bread is called булка (a roll elsewhere in Russia) or батон (a loaf everywhere else). The phrase Сходи в булочную и купи хлеба и булку means in St. Petersburg, "Go to the bakery and buy some rye bread and a loaf of white," while in Penza it ... >> full

Wahhabism is a Sunni fundamentalist Islamic movement, which members reject all acts implying polytheism, including the veneration of saints, and advocate a return to the original teachings of Islam as found in the Qu’ran and the Hadith. They supported the establishment of a Muslim state based on Islamic canon law. In Russia the term is often wrongly referred to Chechen rebels and their supporters. From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 3/25/2006 5:56 AM March, 25, 2006 The gentlemen at somebody's suggestion Daudov Vakha, for CHECHENPRESS It is well-known, that geniuses, talented people, various scientists, frequently happen to be those people not from the world of this. They can give out any cantata with a sonata, but to repair the usual socket, well, are unable any way. But nowadays it happens vice versa. The thief and the robber can stir up such thing, that the whole academy gets "faithlessness". - This is where, academician-talents are! The famous character from film "gentlemen good luck", "Kossoi" was telling about his abilities to his friends, "academicians", saying, - "Friend of mine is also academician, he has three classes education, he can draw such ten rubble banknote, that you will not be able to differ it from the real one". Well, this is an example from Chechen national rubbish heap. I resolutely disagree with criticism to address of Kadirov-junior concerning assignment to himself a rank of "honourable academician". Why only Putin ... >> full

By Peter Baker Published: February 17, 2006 Irina Fadeeva had been through enough already. She had sat in that dreadful theater for nearly three days as Chechen terrorists hovered menacingly nearby. Her 15-year-old son had been among those left dead after Russian commandos pumped the building with a mystery gas and stormed inside. When his body finally turned up in a morgue, she had found a crevice in his head, what she believed was a bullet wound. Yet it was only when Fadeeva turned to journalists to help find the answers she wasn't getting from the authorities that investigators began to pay her attention. Perhaps her tall, healthy son had not ... >> full
