Those are to blame as well who own the city gas company, Dneprogaz. And they will be taken to the account,” she said. According to Timoshenko, Dneprogaz has recently reduced its technical equipment and staff. From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 10/16/2007 4:43 AM October 16, 2007 Russian Pre-Election Psychology SIA CHECHENPRESS October 16, 2007 Russia’s “Sovereign Democracy” is a pretty predictable thing, the outcome of so-called democratic elections will be precisely what president Putin, The Kremlin and The Russian Secret Police, FSB, want in order to remain in absolute control of their vast country. In order to safeguard the desired election results there is a de facto press censorship, harassment of dissidents, human rights activist and non governmental organizations. 215 journalists have been killed in the past fourteen years, obviously for telling the truth. In order to be absolutely sure to eliminate real political opposition, the threshold to obtain representation in Parliament, the Duma, has been raised from 5 to 7 per cent. The pro-Putin party “United Russia” thrones pretty much alone, the rest being a mere alibi for pluralism. On top of this, Vladimir Putin has started an impressive ego-building and hero worshipping around his own person. We see the comments and pictures in ... >> full

From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 10/17/2007 12:27 AM McCain would exclude Russia from G8 nations Publication time: 16 October 2007, 18:50 Republican presidential candidate John McCain said on Monday if elected he would push to exclude Russia from the Group of Eight conclave of major industrial nations to punish Moscow for rolling back political freedoms. "We need a new Western approach to this revanchist Russia," McCain wrote in a Foreign Affairs magazine article outlining his views on foreign policy looking ahead to the November 2008 election. The Group of Eight, known as the G8, includes the United States, Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Japan and Russia. Their leaders gather each year in one of their countries to discuss major economic and political challenges facing the globe. Russia is a fairly recent entry into the group, joining the Group of Seven in 1997, and President Vladimir Putin played host to the annual G8 summit in St. Petersburg in 2006. McCain, an Arizona senator who frequently denigrates Putin, said the G8 should again ... >> full
