A renowned international lawyer and specialist in international law Robert Amsterdam was interviewed by an Estonian agencyERR News. He spoke about the KGB Russia. He noted in particular:

"The tragedy at Domodedovo represents a tremendous and continuing failure of government, which is called the nasty little ferret.

I call it the horizontal of incompetence as opposed the power vertical. It is rife throughout Russia. It is a cancer that is unfortunately not under any control.

I think the American reset narrative is sadly a joke, and I think it's lulled many people into a false sense of security, because from a foreign policy standpoint, Russia's foreign policy has been far more instrumentalized by the clan structure than people realize. It's become highly mercantilistic and to that extent quite aggressive. We're seeing what I call this form of "corruption diplomacy" occurring throughout Europe.

Vertical power is a disaster for Russia

Western journalists are actively discussing the causes of repeated "terrorist attacks" (sabotage operations) in Russia.

They come to the conclusion that the cause is Putin and his pet dwarf idiot Medvedev.

A columnist of Le Nouvel Observateur, Vincent Jauvert, writes that "until now, terrorism was serving for the purposes of Putin and his clan. 11 years ago, the explosions of two apartment buildings in Moscow (they were blown up by the FSB under the order by Putin - KC) resulted in moving of an inconspicuous KGB colonel Putin to the Kremlin.

But this time the crisis may turn against him".

"Russians begin to notice the obvious fact: during his 11 years in power, the "national leader" Putin did establish peace in the North Caucasus, on the contrary. His failure is evident.

But that's not all. Since last summer, the Putin's government has repeatedly demonstrated its failure. In August, it was unable to extinguish forest fires, in fall, its law enforcement agencies could not coped with football fans, in December, ...

THE HORRIFIC suicide bombing at Moscow's Domodedovo Airport on Monday underlined a couple of sad conclusions about Russia's battle against terrorism. One is that the country's security services, unlike their counterparts in Europe and North America, have failed to develop the means to uncover terrorist networks, prevent attacks or protect public spaces such as airports and subway systems. No country's police can guarantee security. But in Russia over the past decade, as Vladimir Putin has cited the threat of terrorism in consolidating a domestic police state, Moscow alone has suffered eight major attacks, along with the destruction of two airplanes that took off from Domodedovo. Casualties have been heavy: At least 35 died and more than 200 were injured in the latest strike.

Second, Mr. Putin's autocratic form of rule and imperialist policy toward non-Russian nations has made it impossible for him to resolve - or even seriously address - the underlying problem that fuels most of the attacks. That is the restiveness ...

MOSCOW - The suicide bombing Monday at Domodedovo Airport marked one of the most damaging attacks here in years, striking at a crucial link between Russia and the rest of the world.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which killed 35 people and injured 86, 40 of them critically. Russian authorities said they were investigating leads late Monday.

Russia has experienced nearly 15 years of terrorist acts, virtually all of them attributed to Chechens or other Islamic separatists from the North Caucasus, where a low-level civil war continues to smolder. The violence has included bombings of buildings, trains and domestic flights, as well as mass hostage takings in a hospital, a school and a theater.

Thomas de Waal spoke with CBC's Jennifer Clibbon, who was the news producer in the CBC's Moscow bureau from 2000 to 2003, about the context of the recent terrorist attack and the likely political fallout for the two men who run Russia, President Dimitri Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.

CBC News: Medvedev has placed much of the blame for the Jan. 24 attack on security officials at Domodedova airport. But if, as many people suspect, the attack was the result of terrorists from the North Caucasus, then this is a deep-rooted problem stemming back years and connected to the government's policies in that region. Would you agree?

Yes. This is a very complex problem whose roots date back to at least 1994, the date of the disastrous and bloody Russian military intervention in Chechnya. That set in train two wars in Chechnya and the loss of tens of thousands of lives, most of them civilians.
