Poland still sees political motives behind ban on exports to Russia -ambassador

MOSCOW.  Feb  6  (Interfax)  -  Poland  is  still  inclined  to see
political  motives  behind  the embargo on imports of Polish products to
Russia and  expects that, thanks to experts' inspections, Russia and the
European  Commission will manage to find a way out of the crisis, Polish
Ambassador to Russia Jerzy Bahr told journalists in Moscow on Tuesday.
"Don't  consider it propaganda, but if a technical problem persists
this long,  it  begins  to  assume a political dimension. Inspections in
Poland are  underway,  and  they are being conducted by specialists from
Russia and the European Union. They are very important," he said.
Exports  of  Polish  products  to  Russia  are  beneficial  to both
countries,  Bahr  said.  He  insisted  that the problem is not bilateral
because  it  affects  the  relationship  between Russia and the European
Union, as Poland is an EU member.
Asked  whether  Poland  could lift its veto on talks between Moscow
and Brussels  on  a  new  strategic  agreement  after the problem of the
Polish meat  has been resolved, Bahr said, "I believe these problems are
closely  interrelated,  and  we hope that this relation will vanish soon
and we will be able to find a new agreement quite soon, but this will be
within the framework of the Russian-European Union relations."
