From: MSN NicknameEagle_wng (Original Message) Sent: 2/10/2007 1:22 AM Analyst: “Alliance with Timoshenko poses threat of collapse for Our Ukraine”
Declarations on alliance of BYT and Our Ukraine are an achievement for Yulia Timoshenko and a possible point for breakup of the pro-presidential political force, Ukrainian political analyst Kost Bondarenko told a REGNUM correspondent today.
“It is a situational combination; they appear quite often now. For Yulia Timoshenko it is, undoubtedly, an achievement. She showed that she can unite. It is a signal for the electorate that there is plenty of life left in her and her bloc can not only generate slogans, but work constructively,” the expert believes. According to him, for Our Ukraine it is a turning point that can result in a split of the party, because attitudes towards Yulia Timoshenko in Our Ukraine are not the same, and some politicians are very negative about her seeing her as threat. “I think we are on the verge of major events in the orange camp. These events will hardly go smoothly as they are trying to portray it,” the expert says. Kost Bondarenko believes that “it is no sense saying such alliance was instigated from outside of Ukraine, by the West.” “The West is similarly calm about the oranges and the white-blues (the Regions Party — REGNUM), believing that both of them are not antagonists to the European Union and the United States,” the analyst says.
On February 8, it was announced that BYT and Our Ukraine agreed to conduct coordinated actions of their political forces at the Ukrainian Supreme Rada.
