“Search, to whom it is favorable”

The throw of the grenade accomplished by Vladimir Arutyunyan during the speech of George Bush in the square of Tbilisi can be named to be an attempt at the American president only conditionally. It was almost impossible for Bush and Saakashvili to turn out to be among possible victims from the explosion of the grenade in the square, as they were behind bulletproof glass. Also the attempting could not expect to kill Bush. Judging by the arsenal found at him and his actions during the detention, Arutyunyan had representation about characteristics of weapon, and he had skills of it. The incident in the Tbilisi square was an attempt of an act of terrorism, with a plenty of victims among civilians, thus, the terrorist had no task to kill the presidents.

The reaction of Russia and Armenia to the detention of the terrorist by the Georgian special services reminds a saying: “An uneasy conscience betrays itself”. We shall not list the propaganda trick of the Armenian and Russian commentators, it is quite enough to mention the inadequate behavior of officials. Several hours later, after Arutyunyan's detention, the Russian side came out with refutations of hearings about Arutyunyan's belonging to the grouping of the Russian armies in the Caucasus . The Armenian prime-minister, during his visit to Georgia , tried to joke in Putin's style, having declared, that the grenade had been a Chinese one. Earlier, the Minister of Defense of Armenia openly told a lie, as if in Armenia manual grenades were not made. Just in Armenia manual grenades, such as RGD, are made, they just differ from the Russian ones with big sizes. Such grenades got to the Chechen Republic , and their dimensions gave an occasion for witticisms about Armenians, who had ostensibly increased the size the grenade, not thinking about convenience of carrying of it and only for the purpose, that their grenade would be bigger, than Russian RGD . Probably, the failure of successively two Armenian grenades at Arutyunyan will become an occasion for new jokes about their manufacturers.

As far as the attempt at Bush is concerned, nobody is going to accuse Russia of it. Special services have many opportunities to organize an attempt at a professional level, and they would not involve a marginal bomber for these purposes. And it is the question not about an attempt at Bush – there simply was not such an attempt. There was an attempt to make an act of terrorism, the consequences of which, besides victims, a panic in the place of the explosion and failure of the visit schedule of Bush to Georgia, would have been a demonstration of chaos and uncontrollability in the Georgian state and superfluous argument for the benefit of the Russian politicians, stamping a negative image of the southern neighbor. It is not difficult to imagine, what contrast would be between Putin's previous reception of Bush at the parade in Moscow and the incident in Georgia , if it had happened according to the planned script.

Therefore, in this case, it is the question not about “an attempt at Bush”, but an attempt of an act of terrorism with the mentioned above consequences, and Russia has enough people, interested in it. just such a marginal, like Arutyunyan, and the way of execution } of the act of terrorism and nervous reaction of the Russian side to the appeared hints about its participation, and even the theatrical anti-Americanism of the terrorist, as if trying to convince everybody, that it was his personal initiative, is suitable for such purposes.

It is another business, how the Georgian government will behave, if it collects enough proofs of participation of Russia in the attempt of an act of terrorism in the territory of Georgia . It looks like there will be no reaction. It can end with habitual games, practiced by Georgian politicians, avoiding naming the opponent. The last information from Georgia testifies to it: “Representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, who wished to remain unnamed, informed that they did not trust in absence of external contacts of Arutyunyan. In the law enforcement bodies they believe, that Vladimir Arutyunyan could not be a single, who had written the script of the attempt at Bush and executed it. In the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia they consider Arutyunyan to be a prepared saboteur” - Gazeta.ru informs.

It looks like the investigation has taken the right way and it has approached close to the informing, who supported Arutyunyan. However, at the same time it is stated: “Also Arutyunyan's possible contacts to the former government of Adjara are checked. According to one of the versions of the investigation, the suspected was in Adjara on the eve of “the Adjara revolutions” in May, 2004. Arutyunyan's contacts to special services of the foreign states, working in Georgia , are studied”.

It turns out, that the Georgian special services till now have not found out, who and special services of what state supported the former government of the Adjara autonomy. Well, then really, the case of “the attempt at Bush” has all chances to remain a secret, the same as the murder of Kennedy .
