With best regards

Hello, journalists from the edition of the site "Chechenpress", a major of one of the units of the Moscow military district writes to you. Probably, you will be surprised with that I am writing to you, but, first, I often read materials in your site, and, second, if I write to any Russian edition, my letter for certain will not be published, and I will be found by KGBists and I will have a lot of serious problems. And even this first letter I send to you through an intermediary, my old friend and a very reliable person, who also hates workers of the FSB and their informers, and there are a lot of them in army. One of my colleagues, a captain, once, when he was drunk, told me, that he had been secretly working for the FSB for four years, who served in our unit, and all of them tried to reveal those soldiers and officers, who sympathized with Chechens, and those, who wanted to give the information to journalists about those disgraces, which took place in our unit.

Why am I writing about Chechens? Because divisions from ours regiments constantly are in the Chechen Republic and change each other there. And so for already almost four years we actually sit at this stupid and become hateful to everyone war for half a year. For this period of time only in our regiment about twenty officers and ensigns have been killed, and I do not already speak about soldiers. There are a lot of wounded and contused, many have remained invalids, without a hand or a leg, one has lost vision and now he is completely blind and nobody cares for him.

In the beginning of this war I, as well as many our officers, fiercely hated all Chechens and considered them to be animals, which were not worthy to live on this earth and that they should be eliminated completely. Now, looking back at my past, I can not understand, whence I had this feeling, in fact I had never been a racist, or a fascist, but, on the contrary, - my family always appreciated people irrespective of their nationality. This is a kind of some delusion, some mass psychosis, which has affected me and those, with whom I serve.

Our battalion participated in a fighting operation on blocking of the district, where Yamadaev's divisions and our commandoes were carrying out an operation of liquidation of insurgents. There were very few insurgents, probably, no more than ten, it was an absolutely small group, which had been tracked down and surrounded in a woody district. As we were explained at the statement of the problem, according to the operative data they were people from the grouping of Dokku Umarov, who were coming back to their mountain base after the next diversion accomplished by them against our armies, and there were wounded men among them. They should have been blocked and taken alive if possible so that then they could have been interrogated. We had a fight with this group for more than a day, though four hundred people participated in the fight from our party. All Chechens were lost, and we did not manage to take any insurgent alive. After the fight I saw the lost Chechens, who were lying on the ground with open eyes and quiet faces, only two of them looked older than 30 years old, the others were absolutely boys, and one of them was about 15. All of them were lost, but none of them had surrendered. Then for the first time I thought, with who we were at war and in the name of what?

For the whole war I had never seen any Chechen surrendering with hands up, maybe, there were somewhere such Chechens, but I had not met them. Though our TV says all day long about Chechen gangsters running to mountains, but I understand more and more, that they are not gangsters, they are soldiers, who fight for their native land and to tell the truth, I as a military man, who has grown in the family of a military man, envy them. Yes, I envy these boys, who with weapon in their hands fight against the army of a huge country, which cannot win them for already more than five years, being armed with all modern kinds of arms, crowd of generals from academy of the Joint Headquarters and the VPK, the largest in the world.

Today I, as a regular officer of the Russian army, am ashamed, that I have been at war in the Chechen Republic and when my daughter asked me to put on the awards and medals, which I got in this war, for the Victory Day, it was a shame for me to put them on and for the first time in my life in this sacred for our family day I was in a civil suit.

Maybe, my letter will seem to be naive and unnecessary to you, but I want Chechens to know, that they have already won this war, because there are irreversible processes in our army today, which will shortly lead to that our management would not know how to be rescued from its own army "revived" in this mean war. Army officers more and more hate and despise the Minister of Defense Ivanov - "cop" by profession, who had never served in the army before the appointment to the post. This person has never worn army boots.

Especially all of us were astonished with the fact, that his sonny, who has recently killed an old woman, was not punished. The brother of one our officer works in the Office of the Public Prosecutor, and he told his brother, that the sonny of the minister was absolutely drunk, when he when committed the crime, and he was driving his foreign car in such a condition. Ivanov rescued both sonnies from the army, and what moral right does he have to be the Minister of Defense and to appear before officers after that? If a simple officer breaks traffic rules and receives an official report for it from the GAI officers, if he does not have enough money to pay off from these jackals, he will have so many problems in the unit, you can not even imagine. And these ministerial sonnies can do anything, to rape, to force, to plunder, to steal. I hate them more, than any enemy.

Many officers watched the trial of the commander of the tank regiment colonel Budanov, this trial was very important for all of us, because watching it we realized, that Putin and his minister Ivanov were liars and dung, because many people knew, that Budanov took this Chechen girl Kungaeva not for himself, but for his chief, friend and partner Shamanov. And whether Shamanov should not be in prison now together with Budanov?

And so you one has to serve in such an army, and, to tell the truth to serve waiting for the pension, I just feel pity for the young guys, soldiers and lieutenants, whose mentality such Ivanovs, Budanovs and Shamanovs will cripple and transform the officers into cattle and executioners. To tell the truth, I like Chechens more, than our eternally drunk and fat generals-summer residents, who instead of general shoulder stripes need to have the American dollar for already a long time.

At the end of the letter, once again I would like to express my admiration of the Chechen soldiers, who, unfortunately, today are my enemies, and to congratulate all of you with the victory over us. Once again forgive us for the evil and sorrow, which we have brought to your land, and I wish you fast peace, freedom and prosperity!

With best regards !

A Major of the Russian army, Victor. (For clear reasons I can not name myself completely, because our army and its officer staff is watched by a lot of informers from the secret police) .
