Hairi Ersoi (Kutarba), Turkish writer of Abkhazian origin visited Maykop the last week. The visitor told in his conversation with Natpress editor that recently he had become a member of the Writes’ Union of Abkhazia. That happened unexpectedly, he was invited to the last assembly of the World congress of Abazino-Abkhazian people that passed in Sukhum, where he found out that he was awarded with such honour.

4/4/2007 Shamba: Georgia getting ready for war on Abkhazia
The main threat to stability originates from Georgia and the top Georgian officials who hide their true aims behind peace-loving rhetoric. Sergey Shamba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, made this statement to the correspondent of the "Caucasian Knot" while giving his comments to the Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili's statement that "Georgia will be ready to respond by aggression to the initiative of Russia of acknowledging Abkhazia and South Ossetia." We note here that Mikhail Saakashvili made this statement in his interview to the German newspaper "Suddeutsche Zeitung."

Sokhum/Agency Caucasus- Abkhazia is working to protect Abkhazian language which is disappearing in diaspora.
Abkhazian language education set for Abkhazians in was prepared by Abkhazian Development Foundation.
Abkhazian language set contains voice records. Mair Amichba, from the foundation, said that they firstly targeted the Abkhazian children who live far form their homeland in the project.
The Foundation will start to distribute the language education set in in next weeks. In his explanation made for official site of Abkhazian Presidency, "We should figure our mother tongue in a way that not only Abkhazians living in Abkhazia but also all Abkhazians living in different countries can learn. This is also an important step for Abkhazians on the way of returning to homeland" said Amichba. CY/FT

A Russian man held captive for 15 years in Georgia, where he was allegedly used as a slave, was handed over to Russia by Abkhazian security services. Vladimir Obidin, 68, was detained March 6 in a village after he crossed the border between Georgia and its breakaway republic of Abkhazia. According to Abkhazia's security services chief Yuri Akshuba, this is not the first time when escaped captives have turned to them for help.
