THE REPUBLIC OF NICARAGUA’S FOREIGN MINISTER SAMUEL SANTOS LOPES TO VISIT ABKHAZIA IN THE MIDDLE OF APRIL

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua Samuel
Santos Lopes will visit Abkhazia in the middle of April, the MFA of
Abkhazia protocol department said. During his visit Samuel Santos Lopez
will meet with the President Sergey Bagapsh, the Prime Minister Sergey
Shamba, the Minister for Foreign Affairs Maxim Gvindzhia, MPs.
Nicaragua is the second country after Russia that recognized independence of Abkhazia.
Last
September a delegation of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia
visited the Republic of Nicaragua where a "Joint statement on the
establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Abkhazia
and the Republic of Nicaragua" and a "Protocol on consultations between
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua and the
Ministry for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia" were signed
on September 10.
According to the signed agreements, both
republics plan "to develop bilateral mutual relations, to promote
mutual understanding and strengthening of friendship and cooperation
between two nations based on principles and purposes of the UN Charter
and the international law”.
The parties also agreed "to carry on
consultations regarding bilateral cooperation in the field of policy,
economy, scientific and technical ties, ecology and cultural and
humanitarian interaction".
