Recognition of Abkhazia to have fundamental continuation - Bagapsh 15.12.2009
The process of Abkhazia’s recognition will have a major continuation, the newly-elected president of Abkhazia, Sergei Bagapsh, told Itar-Tass in an interview. An agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Abkhazia and the Republic of Nauru was signed in Sukhum earlier on Tuesday.“It is unimportant how many people are resident in the country Abkhazia has established diplomat relations with. Nauru is a member of the United Nations. This is the first time that we are signing an agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations, in fact, on recognition,” Bagapsh said, adding that it was a long stride forward.“At the same time the recognition of our independence depends on us a great deal. This is a very pleasant process and it will have a good, fundamental continuation,” he said.
