The president of Abkhazia Sergey Bagapsh sent on January 20th a letter to the chairman of United Nations Security Council Augustine Mahiga. In it the present position of Abkhazian management in the Georgian-Abkhazian opposition was explained.
\"During entire period of the negotiating process since 1993, - it was spoken in the document, - the Georgian party not once refused to execute the reached agreements, and twice - in 1998 and 2001 - hardly had not led to the war’s renewal. The Abkhazian party constantly focused attention of the negotiating process’ participants on those infringements\".
In the document it was emphasized: \"There is an absolutely clear necessity of giving a new impulse to the political peace process. Substantially it could be promoted with achievement by the parties of the agreement on non-use of violence according to the international guarantees\".
However, in the president’s opinion, \"offered within several years to the Abkhazian party \"Main principles of differentiation of powers between Tbilisi and Sukhumi\" cannot form any basis for useful negotiations. This document does not judge the real situation at all, therefore the Abkhazian party cannot participate in its discussion\".
The president of Abkhazia considers the idea of discharge of the Collective security forces from the peace process in the region and their replacement with the United Nations’ divisions erroneous. That, in his opinion, could not provide the due consideration of the parties’ interests, in particular, the interests of the Abkhazian party.
Abkhazia, was spoken in the document, is ready to discuss with the interested parties any questions except for its status. During last years it took place as an independent country with the institutes of statehood developed enough.
In the summary the president of Abkhazia asked to give him the right to speak from the tribune of the United Nations.
