GROZNY, August 5 (Itar-Tass) - Gunmen burned down on Saturday two houses belonging to staffers of law enforcement agencies in Chechnya’s Vedeno region, Chechen Interior Ministry sources told Tass on Sunday.

According to the sources, at 21:45, Moscow time, on Saturday, about ten unidentified gunmen set on fire the houses of two policemen in the settlement of Tsa-Vedeno.

Besides, a burnt down Mercedes car was found 200 meters away from the settlement. The scorched body of a man was lying near the car, and inside police found the bodies of a man and a three-year-old child. The vehicle was shelled and then set on fire. The spokesman of the Southeastern Front of CRI Armed Forces confirmed information that on the night of August 5th a Special Operational Group (SOG) conducted a pin point operation in the village of Tsa-Vedeno, in which three houses of the active members of "Sever" munafiq gang, were burned down.

During the execution of Shariah Court's decision for the destruction of homeownership, Mujahideen brought out family members of munafiqs (women, men, children) without causing harm to them.

The spokesman of SEF of CRI AM said that such operations would continue.

Due to the fact that the occupiers and the puppets distributed information that during the night in the village of Tsa-Vedeno two adult males and one child were killed and their Mercedes car burned, a spokesman of the Chechen command said:

Militants kill two Russian servicemen

August 8, 2007 - 11:04PM

Unidentified militants have killed two Russian servicemen in the latest attack in Chechnya, officials say.

The attack occurred around midnight in the Chechnya's provincial capital, Grozny, when several gunmen fired automatic weapons at an interior troops base, the regional branch of Russia's Interior Ministry said in a statement.

In a separate attack, two militants shot and badly wounded a traffic police officer in the center of Grozny, it said.

Perpetrators of both attacks have fled.

Large-scale fighting in Chechnya ended years ago, but rebels continue to mount regular raids at federal troops and local Moscow-backed authorities. Violence also has spilled into neighbouring provinces in Russia's volatile North Caucasus.

In covering the guerilla war in Chechnya, few journalists have tried to analyze the tactics of the rebels. Generally, the journalists who observe the situation in Chechnya simply indicate that the attacks are increasing or decreasing without saying anything about the possible military goals of the rebels. It is widely believed that the insurgents in Chechnya carry out chaotic attacks simply to remind the world of their existence. This belief is especially popular in the Russian media community. Every time the rebels increase their attacks, the Russian security services tell correspondents that the guerillas are doing this simply to report to their international sponsors.

Yet despite having sustained several casualties, the insurgency in Chechnya still has a central command, and every year, this command works out a new strategy and new tactics. At ...

Nukhazhiev: attack on Tsa-Vedeno is a result of negligence of power agencies

The militants' attack on Tsa-Vedeno, when three persons fell victim, is a result of negligence and criminally poor attitude of the heads of the power agencies to their duties, the RIA "Novosti" quotes the statement by Nurdi Nukhazhiev, Chechen Ombudsman:

"I think that the Military Prosecutor's Office of the United Troops Grouping in Northern Caucasus should, at least this time, exhibit its fidelity to principles and conduct a thorough examination, why it has become possible that in the middle of 2007 illegal armed formations can block a village for several hours and demonstratively execute people, including children, and burn down households of employees of the state bodies of power."
