Guerrilla group surrounded in Chechen village
GROZNY. June 17 (Interfax) - Interior Troops servicemen have sealed off a house in Starye Atagi village in the North Caucasus republic of Chechnya in which five guerrillas have been hiding, local law enforcement sources told Interfax.
More than 140 servicemen are engaged in the sweep operation.
"A private house with five militants inside was surrounded late on Thursday. They offered armed resistance. Active steps to neutralize them were resumed in the morning," one of the sources said. [RU EUROPE EEU EMRG MIL] tm

Landmine explodes in Grozny
GROZNY. June 13 (Interfax) - A landmine went off at a bus stop in the Staropromyslovsky district of Grozny, the capital of Russia's North Caucasus republic of Chechnya.
The attack apparently targeted a unit of sappers from the military commandant's office who were passing by the bus stop at the time of the explosion, sources in the Chechen Interior Ministry told Interfax. Nobody was killed or injured by the blast.
Investigators are working at the scene. They are examining the explosive device used in the attack and questioning witnesses.

A group of Mujahideen who held positions in one of the private houses, managed to kill 8 and wound 12 invaders. No information reported about possible losses from Mujahideen side. The representative of the Chechen command said that the mobile group of Mujahideen managed to get out of the sealed off house having broken through a ring of a cordon.
