«The war is a school of struggle for the Chechen children!» The second one in the turn of children's international dates is the International day of children - victims of aggression (on the 4 th of June). This memorable day, in many respects duplicating the International day of protection of children (on the 1 st of June), comes from the bloody military conflicts in the Near East . On the 4 th of June, 1982 , the Zionist armed formations led by General Ariel Sharon, the present Prime Minister of Israel, carried out severe bombardment of inhabited districts of the Lebanese capital Beirut , where Palestinian refugees lived. Then the International community was indignant with brutal actions of Zionists as the result of which a huge quantity of children suffered. At the emergency session of the General Assembly of the United Nations (GA UNO), gathered on the 19 th of August, 1982 for ... >> full

The story of an officer Not long before the beginning of the war in 1994, in Groznyy, in the presidential palace the broadened assembly of the Chechen militaries with Johar Dudaev's participation was carried out. At that assembly one episode, which fairly amused the participants, was noticeable. The people, gathered in the hall pending of arrival of the president, voluntarily or not paid attention to some man wearing the uniform of an officer of the Soviet army, with habits and grimaces of a head of political education, who was running in the hall and ordering about. The picture reminded a plot from the life of the Soviet army, and the officer (later it turned out that he really was a head of political education), waiting for arrival of the army heads, was the same pertinent there, as, for example, a compere at the meeting of mojaheds. But later everything turned out to be ... >> full

When Consciousness Wakes Up QUOTE OF THE WEEK/The Jamestown Foundation-CHECHNYA WEEKLY June 08, 2005 "Every day and every minute, I have been hearing a kind of cry of my people. I have seen the tears of mothers and the weeping of children. They have been crying these tears because so many people have disappeared: their children, their husbands – all gone. And I could not bring any calm to their hearts – and I just couldn't bear it any longer." --- Former Chechen mufti Akhmad Shamayev on why he stepped down as Chechnya's spiritual leader, as quoted by the Los Angeles Times on June 5.

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Chechen rebels killed seven Russian police in an attack near the mountainous south of the region, Russian officials were quoted as saying on Friday.
The RIA Novosti and Interfax news agencies quoted the regional interior ministry as saying the rebels were armed with a grenade launcher and hit a police vehicle near the village of Kurchaloi.
Attacks by separatist rebels are daily events in Chechnya but it is rare for Russian officials to acknowledge their losses so quickly.
Mainly Muslim Chechnya has been devastated by war, which has dragged on for more than a decade.
Russia says it is stabilizing the region but still maintains close to 100,000 troops in Chechnya. http://today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=worldNews&storyID=2005-06-10T062232Z_01_N10621444_RTRIDST_0_INTERNATIONAL-RUSSIA-CHECHNYA-DC.XML
