11 invaders killed in recent clashes in Chechnya

At least eleven Russian invaders were killed during military operations in Chechnya on 18 June, a spokesman of the military committee of the State Defense Committee - Majlis ul-Shura of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria [CRI] reported. Six invaders were killed as a result of skirmish in Vedeno district of the country. Three occupiers were eliminated in capital Jokhar and two mercenaries were killed in Nojay-Yurt district of CRI as a result of blowing up of a motor vehicle.

According to the spokesman of the Chechen command, from Mujahideen side two fighters became Shaheeds and one more got wounded.

The source also reported about night bombardments of Vedeno and Itum-Kali district of the country.

Russia remains tight-lipped over the fighting in Chechnya

Six Russian soldiers and three police have been killed in fighting in Chechnya, while another 11 members of the security forces were wounded, according to a local official.

Girl stabs father's torturer

An 18-year-old girl stabbed a Chechen law enforcement agent who was beating her aged father in Prigorodnoye not far from Grozny on 13 June, a local resident told Caucasian Knot.

"The agents were looking for the old man's son, but he was not in, so one of them began to beat the father cruelly in the presence of his 18-year-old daughter, demanding that he should say where his son was. Unable to stand the violence over her father, the girl grabbed a table knife and stabbed the torturer in the heart, after which the others ran away taking the body of their man," a 42-year-old villager says.

Bomb wounds five

Five officers of Russia's Internal Affairs Ministry from the Samara region were wounded by a radio-controlled bomb in the south of Chechnya.

The incident occurred yesterday afternoon in the republic's mountainous Vedeno district on a road between Eshilkhatoi and Elistanzhi while a motor vehicle column with officers of law enforcement agencies was moving on. The five victims were admitted to hospital, Chechnya's Internal Affairs Ministry told Caucasian Knot.
