Someone Claiming to be Slain Vostok Commander Declares Vendetta against Kadyrov

Publication: North Caucasus Weekly

The murder of former Vostok battalion commander Sulim Yamadaev took what the Moscow Times on May 14 called an “odd twist” this past week when someone claiming to be Sulim Yamadaev, who was murdered in Dubai on March 28, telephoned a Muslim cleric based in Gudermes, Chechnya, Nurid-Khadzhi Kimaev, to declare a blood feud against Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov and Adam Delimkhanov, the State Duma deputy and Kadyrov’s cousin.

Kommersant on May 13 quoted Kimaev as saying he did not believe the caller’s claim to be Sulim Yamadaev was true and therefore did not convey the announcement of the blood feud to Kadyrov. Jokhar: A Shaheed attacked HQ of puppet gang of 'MIA'

Publication time: 15, May, 2009 at 12:04 Djokhar time

A Shaheed killed two puppet police officers and wounded several more when he blew himself up near the headquarters of the so-called "interior ministry" in Jokhar (former Grozny), the capital of Nokhchicho Province, Russian news agencies reported on Friday.

The Interfax news agency quoted an puppet source as saying that two unknown individuals had tried to cross a security post in front of the building.

"The police prevented them from doing so. At that moment one of the criminals went up to the policeman, put his arms round him, and then blew himself up," the source said.

"Two police were killed and several others have been wounded," the source added.

Russia in April claimed that it ended its so-called "counter-terrorist operation" in Chechnya, claiming "stability" had returned to a territory.

Cloudless skies over Chechnya (summary)

From time to time Prague Watchdog receives unsolicited articles by mail: one such item arrived in our mailbox recently, and in the Russian section of our website we present it in its entirety. Instead of publishing a complete translation, therefore, we have decided to summarize the author’s interesting but “imaginative” viewpoint, which does not coincide with our own.

The editors

Writing under the pseudonym “Said Verg”, the author begins by mentioning “The Chechnya Connection”, an op-ed article by the UK Guardian’s foreign affairs correspondent Simon Tisdall, which appeared in that newspaper on April 10. Tisdall bases his view of the situation in Chechnya ...
