Differences between Chechnya’s president and prime minister burst into the open.
By Umalt Dudayev in Grozny. Russian head of state Vladimir Putin last week called Chechen president Alu Alkhanov and prime minister Ramzan Kadyrov to a meeting in the Kremlin to try and mediate in a power struggle that has almost got out of control.
Officially, Putin’s invitation on May 5 was to discuss the socio-economic situation in Chechnya, and make plans for future development. But few doubt that the reason for the unprecedented meeting was the clash between the two men, which led to shooting on the streets of Grozny last month.
On April 25, Kadyrov’s and Alkhanov’s security guards exchanged fire outside the government buildings in Grozny and men on both sides were wounded.

According to the source at the State Military Committee for Defence (SMCD)-Majlisul Shura 4 invaders were killed and 6 servicepersons of the enemy were injured during military operations implemented by the Mujahiddeens in the Nozhay-Yurt region of the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria (CRI). According to information of the Chechen side the Chechen Islamic fighters attacked the enemy nearby the settlement Zhanni-Vedeno on 12 May.
A detachment of occupants conducted reconnaissance. During the clash with the enemy the Chechen fighters eliminated 3 servicepersons of the enemy and wounded at least 4 of them. The same day an armoured troop carrier (BMP) that had carried a group of kaffirs was blasted on the motorway Vedeno-Dargo. As a result of blasting 1 occupant was killed and 2 ones were injured. BMP was eliminated too.

On May 15th, the Groznyy Garrison Military Circuit Court completed the trial of contract soldier, Private Pavel Zinchuk. Zinchuk was sentenced to seven years in a general penal colony, and the claims of the victim, M. Munayev were partially satisfied, reported the Committee Against Torture (Nizhniy Novgorod).
Zinchuk’s case was separated from the criminal case in which contract soldier Aleksey Krivoshonok was sentenced by the North-Caucasian Regional Military Court was sentenced, in April 2006, to 18 years of deprivation of freedom for the murder of three innocent civilians on the outskirts of the village of Staraya Sunzha in the Groznyy region of Chechnya on November16th, 2005. Krivoshonok declared that he killed the people because of their "instigating behavior".
