GROZNY, May 28 (Itar-Tass) - Federal forces are carrying out a security sweep in a forest area near the village Paraboch, Chechnya’s Shelkovskoi district in a bid to find militants who escaped from a reconnaissance group of Interior Ministry troops after a brief armed clash on Friday, an official at local police headquarters told Tass on Saturday.

On Friday the reconnaissance group tracked down a four-strong grouping of militants near the village of Paraboch. They refused to lay down arms and opened fire. One serviceman was lightly wounded in the clash.

The bandits managed to hole up in the forest.

GROZNY. May 28 (Interfax) - Two people, one of them a police captain, have been found dead in Chechnya's Grozny.

Police found two bodies in the trunk of a car parked near school No. 27 in Grozny's Staropromyslovsky district, the district police office told Interfax. One of the bodies was that of police Capt. Rezvan Ashayev, who worked as senior communications inspector at the district police. The other body was that of a woman and has already been identified, it said.

Active measures have been taken to establish the circumstances of the crime and detain those responsible for it, the police said.

Federal troops clash with guerillas in Chechnya

GROZNY. May 28 (Interfax) - A reconnaissance squad of the Russian federal forces engaged in an armed clash with a guerilla unit in Chechnya's Shelkovskaya district.

The guerillas managed to flee but apparently sustained losses.

"While conducting a reconnaissance and search operation, a reconnaissance squad spotted four guerillas near the community of Paroboch. They were chased but refused to surrender, and the servicemen had to open fire at them. Examining the scene later, [the servicemen] discovered plenty of blood stains and traces of dragging a dead or wounded guerilla," the district police told Interfax.

One serviceman also received a minor wound, the police said.

An investigative team is currently working at the scene. Law enforcement agencies have taken measures to hunt down the guerillas.

In the same night in village Avturi of Shali district, Chechen Mujahideen have subjected to a surprise attack a building of puppet administration of a village and group of collaborators. Details of the attack are unknown.

On May 8, 2005, in woodland near village Avturi of Shali district, Chechen Mujahideen conducted an ambush in which Russian invaders from a gang of "GRU reconnaissance team" have got. During transient fight 6 Russian terrorists have been destroyed. Chechen side did not incur casualties.
