As the result of the firefight that lasted for approximately 30 minutes, at least 4 Russian troops were killed and 7 others were wounded. The Russian casualties are probably higher. A Russian armored personnel carrier was also disabled. There were no losses among the Mujahideen. No further details on the operation were mentioned in the report. According to a report from a Kavkaz Center correspondent in Dagestan, Russian invaders took hostage a 54-year-old woman and a young girl, the wife of the martyred (Shaheed, insha Allah) Amir Abu Hafs. The women were taken by Russian kidnappers to the Russian military base in Khankala in Chechnya. Their fate is unknown. Invaders and their local puppets refused to give any information about the incident.

According to a report from the Chechen Military Command, Chechen Mujahideen ambushed and attacked Russian troops 2 km from the village of Eshelkhatoi in the Vedeno distrist of Chechnya onTuesday, December 12, 2006, killing 4 Russian infidels. The Mujahideen suffered no casualties. No further details about the operation were reported.
Russian artillery pounded the forest-covered mountain area south of the Eshelkhatoi village on December 12-13, 2006.
